"Art is humanity’s most essential universal language. It is not a frill, but a necessary part of communication. The quality of civilization can be measured through its music , dance, drama architecture, visual art and literature. We must give our children knowledge and understanding of civilization’s most profound works".

Ernest Boyer, President Carnegie
Foundation for the advancement of teaching

AHA! is passionate about the arts-for all and particularly for all the residents of Jefferson county. to create-to appreciate-to enjoy-to learn. Art appreciation should start early in life, and should be a part of any well rounded education. However, as school budgets get tighter, we all know that the Arts are among the first programs to be cut.

We are fiercely dedicated to keeping strong arts programs in our schools. Therefore, AHA! has decided to move proactively to support arts in our schools. Our TAC (Teaching Arts Creatively) is now in its third year. Summary of Grant Requests 2006-2007

Through special grants to our wonderful arts teachers in the schools we are able to support innovative arts projects within the classrooms of Jefferson County. Our grantees have brought local artists to their class rooms, guided student work in scroll making and calligraphy, offered experiences in music and dance that would not have been possible without financial assistance. If you are interested in collaborating with a class room arts teacher or supporting the AHA! TAC program in any way, please contact Quincy Northrup at 304-876-2420 or qnorthrup@frontiernet.net
